Swimming Pool Procedures

 

Rationale:

To ensure the safe and smooth operation of the West Eyreton School Community swimming pool during and outside of school hours.


Purpose:

  1. Ensure maintenance requirements are met on an ongoing basis.

  2. Ensure regular upkeep of water quality. (As per swimming pool guidelines prepared March 2000).

  3. All users to have appropriate guidance in the use of the facilities.

  4. To ensure the requirements of Health and Safety legislation are met.

  5. To recover pool running costs by charging for use outside of school hours.

Requirements:

  1. The Board shall maintain a set of rules for pool use both during and outside of school hours.

  2. Access outside of school hours will be restricted to authorised users i.e. key holders.

  3. During school hours the pool will always be under adequate supervision.

  4. Management of the pool facilities will be monitored by the Pool operator.

  5. Day to day administration of the pool is the responsibility of the Principal.

  6. Rules will be prominently displayed in the pool area.

RULES FOR WEST EYRETON SCHOOL COMMUNITY SWIMMING POOL:

Designated Person
Person who is 16 years or over, authorised by the key holder and has been made aware of these rules by the key-holder.

Hours
School days: 3.30 – 8.30 pm, Weekend & Holidays: (10.00am – 8.30 p.m.) daily

Rules:

  1. No alcohol / cigarettes within the confines of the school grounds.

  2. No intoxicated person permitted in the pool area.

  3. Children will be supervised by the key-holder or designated person at all times.

  4. Leave the pool and surrounding area tidy before departure.

  5. Remove all items of clothing and personal effects.

  6. When leaving, ensure the cover is replaced and the swimming pool gate is securely locked.

  7. People entering the pool area without authorisation shall be regarded as Trespassers.

  8. Any damage or hazards must be immediately reported to the Principal or Pool Committee.

  9. No diving or bombs permitted.

  10. No bikes to be ridden in the school grounds. Bikes to be put in the bike shed at the rear of the pool.

  11. A toilet is available at the school – please use it. There is a key on the key ring for this.

  12. Health regulations state that you should not swim if you have had a bad cold, diarrhoea or ear/eye/throat infections within the previous 2 weeks.

  13. Babies/toddlers to wear suitable swimwear please. NOT NAPPIES.

  14. No running around the pool area.

  15. West Eyreton School will not be held accountable for any broken or lost equipment.

  16. Do not throw anything into the pool.

  17. If you are physically sick you must scoop all of the remains out of the pool and contact the Pool
    Committee immediately.

  18. Do not bring any equipment/games to the pool that have been used in a river or lake as this could
    contaminate the pool system.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in forfeiture of keys and liability for costs of damages.
